The Meaning of Life... and Other Matters at Hand

Happy Hump Day, readers! I think it's very fortunate that, this time around, the New Year has occurred halfway through the week. I never really thought about it previously -- maybe because, out of all of the New Years that I have witnessed, only the last 5 have been celebrated alongside my fellow non-minor adult friends. And I use the term "adult" loosely! I found that the combination of alcohol and snow turn any "adult" into a retarded seven year old almost immediately. Solely consuming alcohol and refraining from going bonkers in the snow can also lead most adults to have in-depth philosophical discussions about the meaning of life, religion, innovations in energy production, and other interesting topics.

I'm not saying I have had these said in-depth philosophical discussions... but then again, I'm not saying I haven't had them either. I have been wondering for a long time what I could do to transfer these moments of enlightenment to the general population... How can I do something that matters? What can my social contribution be?

Oh yeah, I can 'blog.

But what to write about??

I thought about it for awhile, and then it hit me: My social contribution (and New Year's Resolution) will be to attempt to find an answer to some of Life's Biggest Questions.

Is there a God?
Are there absolutes - Good and Evil, Right and Wrong?
How did Methuselah live for 900 years?
Why did the chicken cross the road?
Will the Cubs ever win another World Series?
Do you love me?
Do zombies exist?
To be or not to be?
... and other such brain teasers.

Philosophy and social contributions aside, the whole Hump Day situation (yes, coming back to that!) is a bonus because we adults get the opportunity to work for a couple of days, go out with our buddies and have Grown-Up Time, sleep the whole next day (unless you're like me and work at a facility that runs 24/7, 365 days a year), and then go back to work for a couple of days before we have another weekend break. It rocks.

But I'm going to get started on the "Big Questions" tomorrow. Now it's time to cuddle up in bed and watch a movie.
